1998 Chevy Truck Changed Intake Gaskets

1998 Chevy Truck V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 109k miles

I changed the intake gaskets, torqued to specs, and then pressure washed. Now I have a runability problem. Map and tps code thrown. Changed map sensor and reset the computer by disconneting the ground. #1 and 5 cylinders are missing through the throttle stroke. No overdrive. What did I do wrong or where should I look to fix to the problem?

Make sure you connected all the grounds on the engine. The ground that connects to the thermostat housing must be clean. It is related to the TPS, as well as other fuel controlling sensors. Pressure washing an electronic ignition controlled engine is never a good idea. Make sure the distributer cap contacts are dry, as well as all the electronic connections - especialy the TPS sensor. Test the TPS for proper function. This sensor is an electronic potentiometer -- meaning its' function realys on an electrical connection related to its position. If this contact is corroded in any way it will fail causing all kinds of misfires and fuel delivery issues...Also, make sure the COIL is properly installed and GROUNDED to the engine. And also, check for intake leaks.
