Well my horn wont beep, took it the mechanic for inspection,he wont pass it. If it is a fuse the mechanic couldnt find it, he didnt know which was which cause the fuses weren't marked.. Can you tell me the particular fuse he would need to change IF that is the problem. ALSO, IF its not the fuse, what else could be the problem??? JESSICA :?: :?

hi jessica , im sorry to hear you mechanic could not find a fuse , lol thats too funny but anyway the fuse for the horn also runs you interior lights , so if they arent out chances are its something else , like a horn relay or the horn itself , or the turn hazard headlight switch assembly here is the fuse location the box cover should be marked with this but its for cig,,,, look at the pic and the fuse box it should match up , you may have to count over and down but here it is thanks, jim oh and leave some feedback if you were happy with your help , we all donate our time here helping others

Well thanks for the diagram of the fuse box that should help..BUT what you were saying about the dome light.. My dome light never goes out,(i had to pull the bulb out of it so it doesnt drain the battery) and my HORN doesn't beep. NOW the horn not beeping was going on for a few months.. but the dome lite, being on where i had to disconnect just started happening a few days ago after i got the car back from the body, shop. Are these two things related? and how do i fix them?

ok check the fuses , and if thats not it we will try and get you further , the dome light is most likely related to the door repair as there is a switch on the door or the door trim that turns the light on and off , i would take that right back to the body shop and have them deal with it free of charge ,

get back to me on the fuse thing

thanks, jim

ok well yall went about it the right way, but in a cavalier the domelight and horn have nothing to do with each other, its the horn and cigarette light, check your lighter if it does not work then get a blue (15) fuse, and replace where it says cig. light.

sorry bubba never said they did

SO you are telling me to put a 15 Watt blue fuse where the cig. lighter should be? and it will make my horn beep again? let me know if that is correct? the thing is i dont know if the cig lighter works or not, cause the original cig lighter that goes there was missing when i bought this car.. no we are not saying it will work for sure this is the starting point , pull the cig fuse and see if it is bad if you have doubts replace it and see what happens , the fuse is less than a dollar

This is getting confusing LOL.

I was replying for you, by quoting what you said. ANY parts store will have them, my advice is to stay away from auto zone however.

Wow Jessica, it really seems like you got some really lazy half a** mechanics trying to pass off shody work on you. It happens. And when it does just remember if they damage or improperly repair your vehichle they are fully liable and should fix it free of charge and labor. And if they refuse you can always call the Better Business Bureau and file a free complaint, that usually gets their attention.

It sounds like the problem with your dome light...they either crossed a wire and didn't properly replace the door ajar sensor. If they were doing work to your door that would make sense.

Jim had the right idea about your horn though.

If the mechanic your going to cant figure out a fuse, or isn't intelligent enough to know how to test a fuse. I mean...you could litterally test every fuse in the car in under a minute - its mind numbingly simple if you have a fuse puller/tester, which cost about two dollars and any mechanic should have some version of. You need to find a new mechanic, cause chances are, he's severely under qualified to be working on your vehicle and you will end up paying for a lot of un needed labor time as well as risking further damage to your vehicle.

I usually NEVER suggest going to the dealer for repairs since they charge ridiculously more then most auto shops, but it sounds like you have your hands full with mistakes those monkey's are making with your car. If they cant fix it....it possibly might be worth it to go to the dealer and have it fixed by the people who made your car. At least you will have some piece of mind then. Of course it will be significantly more expensive though.

Personally, I do most of my own auto work myself between me and my dad. Or I have a few friends that I trust to help out. Your best bet would be to ask your friends if they have any mechanics they use that do good work on American cars. And good as in they havn't had problems with work they've gotten done. Once you find a good mechanic you can rely on, its best to stick with them - alot better to have a mechanic you can rely on and trust then rely on the local street corner shop who hires cheap help that probalby isn't certified.

Best of luck to you!

Also a good way to test if the cig lighter works...

Lick your finger and stick it in and touch both contacts.
Or you can use/buy any of a million different producs and chargers out there that plug into your cig lighter. Such as a cell phone charger, or borrow one from a friend. 75% of drivers dont use cig lighters for lighting ciggarettes anyway, most newer cars dont even have a cig lighter built in, just the socket for powering accessories.

Any mainstream auto parts store such as Kraigen (O'riely), Autozone, Pep Boys, etc will have what you need, and when dealing with such a minor part, there is no reason to pick any store over the other, it makes ZERO difference which you goto for such a minor part, odds are they all carry the same brand too. Pick whatever is closest to you.
