I have replaced the lower intake manifold gaskets and thermostat, because white smoke coming from under the hood. The temp gauge will periodically rise to red and then drop and the heater blows cold until it drops. It also is still loosing collant but that is not a big issue because I will track the leak when it gets warm again since I only have to add some every 3 months or so. I want suspect that it is a bad thermostat but, since I just replaced it, I was wondering if it might be something else like a heater valve or a block in the heater core. Any help is greatly appreciated.
