I tried to replace my PCV valve but i was confused to where it was. According to my haynes manual i located it and screwed it out- it was a plastic casing attached to the valve covers.

the plastic casing was empty and the pcv valve i bought couldnt fit into it

what is going on? did i get the location wrong? am i looking at something completely different? i noticed the plastic casing i screwed off has oil on it and is attached to a hose

please help
