1987 Chevy Truck V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

my 4x4 light on dash keeps coming on and off while driving. Hubs are unlocked and shifter in 2wd? Can u please tell me why

probably the linkage has a lot of play in it and it is bouncing around while you are going down the road making the light blink
