Military here....I have another screen name I go under...c17hydro. But, I can't access it from work....which is where I am at now.

Hope this is simple. 76 Chevy 3/4t, 350/350, added on parts to it. Has Edelbrock Performer Intake, #2101, and Edelbrock Performer Carb, #1406. I have done nothing to spark system but new plugs and wires, cap, etc. Problem is....when I go to step on the gas from a dead stop, it feels like it floods. Also, the bracket used for the throttle cable from the accelerator peddle is questionable. Any ideas how to fix???

BTW, great site guys! Last question asked....fixed my problem about electrical problem. I had a bad alternator, battery(under warranty), and worn out starter.

Other question has to do with heat-soak of my starter. Heard a Fiero heat shield cures it...any truth to that??

I haven't timed the engine since I installed the intake and at that time it was set correctly. I have HEI. And, as for the air/fuel for the carb...I think it is not set correctly. I haven't driven the truck in about 8 months. Prior to it being parked when I deplyed, it ran about the same as it does now. But, everything that has been installed so far has been brand new parts and not garbage. I could use some pointers on the carb though. It is an Edelbrock Performer carb, #1406.

Adj. carb a/f you will need to check timming first and you need a tach and a vaccum gague. Adj. idle speed to 750 rpm then watch vac. gague turn a/f screw on front of carb at the base plate to get the highest vac reading if idle goes up readjust 750. Do the other side repeat processone more time.
As for linkage Edelbrock offers a universal linkage that works good.
Starter if you have a alt. starter repair shop in your area ask for a high torque starter like the one on the 454cid. I have had good results.
Let me know what happens
