1960 Chevy Truck temp gauge

1960 Chevy Truck V8 Two Wheel Drive

I have a 1956 chevy truck. I have repalced the Temp. gauge and the sendor, but the gauge still will not work. I checked to see if voltage is getting to gauge it is and to the sendor. I checked eith a test light on the gauge and it is getting voltage. At the sendo the light was dimmer on the test light. I'm dumbfounded as to why the temp. gauge will not work at all.

ground the wire that goes to the sending unit. The temp guage should go all the way up. Don't leave it grounded have someone do it while you look at the temp guage. If it does it could be a defective sending unit.
