1996 Chevy 3500 Dually -

As of yesterday, I developed a loud humming or whining noise under the hood when I was driving. It seems to get louder when accelerating and decline when deccelerating.

I noticed this in the truck a while back, but it was barely noticable, and I actually thought it was just the noise of the power of the pull it had when accelerating.

One thing that is important to know is that as of a couple of weeks ago, I have notice a grinding when making sharp turns.

Anyway, I wanted to see if this noise would occur when in park, and it does the same if I'm in park and press the gas.

I listened under the hood....it is loud and I thought it was coming from near the engine...but...

This morning, I started up the truck, and I wanted to let warm up really well. It wasn't making the noise, and I hadn't touched anything yet.

As soon as I touched the brakes, it started making the noise really loud, and almost felt as if the brakes were restricted. I had not shifted gears at this point...just applied the brakes.

PLEASE HELP! WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM?

It had ZERO power steering fluid. I have added 1 bottle so far....I think it is fixed...the noise has gone away.
