2007 Chevy Trailblazer Steering problems

I have a 2007 Chevy Trailblazer. It's been happening more often lately. When I drive the car all seems okay until I get on the highway. After about 5 minutes or so of driving at about 60 -65 mph the whole sterring wheel starts shaking very bad and the whole car seems to vibrate. If you try to brake during this occurence the sterring and car shake very violently. After about 10 minutes or so of this the car goes back to normal and it drives smooth as usual. I'm worried because I travel in this car with my wife and 2 little kids. Your help would be greatly appreciated. I took the car back twice to the dealership and they could not duplicate the problem. Does it do it on the same highway every time or will it do it on any ? Sounds very odd fpr a vibration that violent to go away by itself. Is the vibration only in the front end of the truck? Had tires rotated?

It does it on all highways. It's been doing it since the car was a few months old. I had the tires rotated at the 7000 mile service and it still does it.

You have had it to the dealer and they couldnt fix it? Does it make any noise when it is doing it?

Yes, its been to the dealer twice and they couldn't duplicate it. Also, it doesn't make any noise at all except for the shaking. It feels like to whole car is just going to shake itself apart. If you try braking during one of these episodes you have to hold the steering wheen pretty tight as you can see the whole thing just shaking very bad.

I would suggest that you find a shop that is willing to go for a road trip to feel what it is doing. I cant really think of anything that would vibrate like that then go away

Thats the problem when they went on the road test the car wouldn't do it.

I read on a forum that it could be the driveshaft? Is it something that could be possible?

Yes, if it has a sticky cv joint or u-joint that frees up when warm
