p0014 code

That code is for the "exhaust camshaft position sensor". Your best bet is to have the code cleared and drive it to see if it comes back. If it does you may need to replace the sensor. As far as price goes, try calling your local mechanic that you use and see what he will charge you. My labor guide shows about half an hour labor plus his diagnostic charge to clear and read the codes. He may just throw you that bone for getting the job, lol. the part is around $45.00 for the six cylinder and $85.00 for the V-8.

The camshaft position actuator solenoid valve is probably restricted with carbon deposits. This is usually caused from going too long between oil changes, or using substandard oil and filters. Replace the camshaft position actuator solenoid valve and change the oil and filter. Disconnect the battery cables and touch them together, then re-connect them to clear the code.

Would come on for abouut 50 miles, then go out for 10 miles, & come back on/off till I just changed oil last week. DTC P0014 is cam phaser excessive angle error per scanner at local AutoZone store states the possible causes are camshaft sensor and or crank sensor loose, timing chain freeplay loose, or oil/debris blocking the advance or retard oil channels in camshaft position actuator solenoid sensor. Sensors are easy enough to get to. ? is it better at my milage to just replace all 3 sensors and have the crank shaft position relearning test performed. Fearful of how big a job it is to properly snug up timing chain. Although there is a ticking noise that increases with increased driving speed, and I'm suspicious it is timing chain or chain tensioner. Fan clutch appears to be ok and am aware this often culprit for ticking noises, I've never had the telltale roar or changes in heating cooling that goes with bad fan clutch. Must CKP sensor be changed at same time as CMPsensor (intake) or cmp actuator solenoid sensor? How can these sensors work loose at such low

start by removing and inspecting the screens on the camshaft actuator solenoid.the screens come loose and fall off,if there plugged or missing replace the camshaft actuator solenoid.its behind the power steering pump on the side of the cylinderhead,very common problem on these vehicles.I wouldnt replace any parts until you figure out whats wrong.

Will doo what you recommend, check the camshaft actuator solenoid for plugged and or missing screens befor going crazy replacing intake camshaft positionsensor and/or crankshaft position sensor and exhaust cam actuator & timing chain, guide, & tensioner.

Six cylinder two wheel drive automatic 66,300 miles.

My vehicle is throwing the P0014 code. When they pulled it up this is what it came up with : the ECM has detected the camshaft phase angle has exceeded its tolerance value. Can you please tell me what that means and how can i fix that?

You have to remove and inspect the three screens on the cam phaser actuator sensor,they break off and fall inside the engine. there is a bulletin for this, on rare occasions, a rough idle may be encountered with a P0014 and/or P0017 DTC. Due to the rough idle, a P0106 DTC may be stored too. This concern may be due to debris in the camshaft actuator system, which may be caused by a missing camshaft actuator solenoid screen or a worn crankshaft thrust bearing. Typically, this is the result of a camshaft actuator solenoid concern. If this is due to a worn crankshaft thrust bearing, some customers may also comment on a drive belt noise.If this concern is encountered, follow the SI diagnostics and repair as necessary. If the SI diagnostics do not isolate the cause of this concern, ensure that camshaft actuator solenoid screens one, two, and three are in place as shown below: If any of these screens are missing, replace the camshaft actuator solenoid, change the engine oil and filter, and evaluate the concern.

If all these screens are present, measure the crankshaft end play to determine if it is within the specification of 0.0044" - 0.0153" (0.112 - 0.388 mm). Typically, if excessive crankshaft end play is causing this concern, it will be obviously out of specification by .050" or more. If crankshaft end play is within specification, replace the camshaft actuator solenoid. don't worry to much about the crankshaft end play to much, it is a rare occasion that this happens, follow this information and post back with what you find.

I'm getting the p0014 problem code, camshaft position actuator B bank 1 timing over-advanced. how do i fix this and can i do it my self?

replace the camshaft actuator solenoid,very common.its on the side of the cylinderhead behind the power steering pump,remove it and see if the screens fell off.

I have 2 codes showing.
P0128 and P0014
128 is supposedly thermostat too cool, which has never been changed.
More importantly, the P0014. Please advise if I can fix. Any details are appreciated. I am not a novice, Just don't know all I need to know about this code and the fixes.

What do I need to replace to get these codes to clear to pass emissions?

was the timing chain ever replaced or taken off on this vehicle?p1345 normally sets if the timing is off or the timing chain was set up wrong.the p0014 is a cam phaser sensor code,the screens usually get plugged and fall off,replaced alot of them.this a common problem,but before you start replacing parts I need a little more info and will advise from there.

I was able to clear the P1345 code, I replaced both the cam position sensor and the crank position sensor however, the P0014 code still is still on. I cleared all codes but it still comes back even after the sensor was replaced. Any suggestions ? The timing chain has not been replaced, distributor has never been removed.

only suggestions is need to do more testing,need to monitor cam phaser angle with a scan tool.a number of things could cause this,low oil pressure,problem in the circuit,timing chain sprocet/tensioner,pcm.post back with what you find.
