The engine on my 2005 Trailblazer has a whining problem. It gets louder as the rpms go up but whines as soon as the engine runs. I thought it was the alternator and changed it with a rebuit and still it whines. I even changed the rebuilt thinking it was defective. The sound definitly seems like its coming from the alternator, there's nothing else in that area except the tensioner pulley. There is no problem with the charging of the vehicle and the battery seems strong Any suggestions would be helpfull
Thank you

I have the same whining noise, swapped out the alternator, still same noise... Did you replace the pulley below the alternator yet, or mess with the power steering pump? I would like to know if you go this resolved and how.

Thanks!

Trust me on this one lol. Had the EXACT same thing had people tell me it was all kinds of things under the hood. Turned out it was the idler pulley. I found out this is a hugh problem for this vehicle. Lots of people have had this problem. Very easy fix about 10 min. Take out the bolt on the idler pulley and use the belt tensioner to loosen belt. Pull the idler pulley off and replace with new one, This will fix the problem. Runs about $20.00.
