Something is making a sputter noise when my AC is on, the car slightly shakes and when I am increasing speed, it slows down through the gears shifting.

THe AC does require power from the engine to work. Could the noise be a belt? Also, when was the last tune up? Has the check engine light come on?

The check engine light does come on, but the code is for my gas cap not being on tight enough. And we just changed the spark plugs this weekend....and it's still doing it.

If the light came on for an EVAP system failure, it may not be the gas cap. Did the mechanic tell you what the code was or did you have if checked at a parts store? If the parts store did it, when they see an EVAP code, they want to sell a gas cap.

Is it possible for you to tell me the codes or have it rechecked at a parts store?
