had new tires put on car was told by tire shop that there was cupping of tires and i should have a front end alignment then was told that they couldn't align front end because all four ball joints needed to be replaced took car to another tire shop and was told no alignment was needed and ball joints were fine want some reassurance that car is safe if ball joints needed to be replaced would car be out of alignment?

Hello,

Tire cupping is usually caused by weak or bad shocks or struts.

Ball Joint being bad would cause alignment problems.

tire cupping is not usually caused by suspension. it is caused by the alignment being out. the second shop probably didnt unload the lower control arm. without doing this you cant check the ball joints. take it to a third shop for their opinion.
