Is there a lock/clip inside the differential that has to be removed to pull the axle out and replace bearing?

I'm sorry Merlin, I guess I didn't specify which differential.
My question is for the rear drive axles.

In that case, at the rear, remove the cover, and pray it's not a limited slip(posi) unit. if not, you will see the ring gear and carrier, rotate it until you find the small bolt with the 5/16th head and remove it, slide out the center pin, after it's out DO NOT spin either wheel, push the axle inward at the wheel end, the clip can be rmoved now, if it doesnt fall out, then slide the axle out, use a slide hammer with the propper side bearing remover and remove the bearind...
