1999 Chevy Tracker thermostat seal

Had a leak around the top thermostat bolt - so I replaced the rubber seal after cleaning the housing - I didn't use any type of gasket sealer - after startup, there was a sliight drip - so I got another new seal and repeated the process, being careful to make sure the thermostat was fully seated - well, there is still a slight leak along the bottom of the housing ---- What am I missing or doing wrong? Help! Thanks

First, using a straigh edge, make sure the housing is straight and not warped in any way. If it isn't, then I would recommend using a quality RTV adhesive designed for waterpump and thermostat repair. Sometimes when you get an aftermarket o-ring, they just don't quite fit right. Also, when you tighten it, are you trying to keep equal torque on each side of the housing? You want them pull the housing on straight and evenly.
