Both front seat heaters quit working & the drivers side power seat quit at the same time? The power adjustments work on the passenger side but the heat does not, on the drivers side both heat and power adjustments don't work. It all quite at the same time. I'm guessing it's a fuse but the owners manual isn't clear on which fuse supplies power to these applications and I don't understand why the power adjustments work on the passenger side only.

Hello,

It sounds like the DDM has gone out which is common but we should check the fuses first here is a guide to help us get started with the locations of the DDM fuses and the drivers door module. Also I have included the wiring diagrams so you can see how the system works.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-a-car-fuse

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Okay, seems this is a common problem with the newer Tahoes. There is actually a TSB (techincal service bulletin) about this issue. Most likely the driver door module will need reprogrammed, however, you need to have the driver door module scanned by Chevrolet dealer to see if it has to be completely replaced or if it just needs reprogrammed.

The driver's side seat heater stopped working. You press the button and it will shut off after about 2 seconds. The passenger side seat heater works perfectly unless the driver's side button is pressed. What do I do to fix this? I don't know what's wrong.

2003 Chevy Tahoe, 42k 5.3L

The heated seat on the driver side recently quit working. When the buttons are pressed on the door, the lights come on momentarily then there's a click from a black box under the seat and it shuts off. I also noticed that the passenger seat works, til you press the driver side and everything shuts off. Does have something to do with the 'black box' under the driver's seat. What is the box called? Is this common? Any and all info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

The Lock, window, and heated seat won't work on the front passenger side only. Could it be a fuse issue? If so, I looked for the fuse and could not find it. Thanks

remove the window switch on the passenger side and disconnect it for 30 sec. if everything starts working, that unit (passenger side door module) will need to be replaced. if not it will need to be reprogramed

I have a 1999 Tahoe with 98,000 KM on the clock. The drivers side seat heater no longer functions in either med or high. The passenger side still works, the fuses and the switch check out OK. The seatbelt warning still works as do all the power movement switches. Does anyone know how the safety cutoff works? Is it a "squat" switch that detects weight in the seat or off the seatbelt warning. In 1999 the switch for the seat heat is on the lower outboard side of the seat, not in the door as with newer models. Any ideas?? .....Canamatt

Electrical problem
2000 Chevy Tahoe V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 105000 miles

My heated seat has failed. Before completely failing it did seem to get very hot when used (even on low) and then just quit working.

I was hoping that you could provide some repair information in your reply, such as: can it be repaired and how difficult or does the seat need to be replaced? If it needs to be repaired in shop, what an estimate might be?

Again, thanks for the help and thanks in advance for any additional information you may be able to provide.

Remove the seat from the vehicle. Remove the seat covers. You will find the heating elements attached to the cushion or the cover. Leave them there. Cut the wires from the heating elements. Attach the new elements to the old ones and connect the wires. Re-install the covers and the seat.

If the switch light comes on then goes off after some time, chances are the switch itself is bad and can't handle the electrical draw. Have that checked to confirm.

Let me know what you find.

Hello chevy1999tahoe

Try unplugging the connector use a volt meter on it, if there is voltage at the connector, the heating element is No good.

Hello chevy1999tahoe

Lets start from the beginning.
My understanding of the first post was that the driver side heated seat is not working and you have power going to it.
What happens when you push on the button (switch) for the driver heated seat?
The driver and passenger side heated elements share the fuse 20A in the fuse box. If only the driver side is not working, then the fuse is o.k. you can try to unplug the connector to the heated element under the driver seat and while activating it (pushing on the button) check with test light if there is power at the connector.
If there is no power, the problem is with the switch or the wire from the switch to the connector is broken.
If there is power, the heated element is defective and will need to be replaced.

Disconnect the body harness to seat harness connectors at the rear of the front seats. Check for heat damage, or otherwise a poor connection. At this point a wiring repair will be needed, with new terminals and connector body. If you find nothing at the seat to body connectors, and it has drivers memory seat, check the connections at the memory seat module.

Hello chevy1999tahoe _
good job

Remove the connector to the switch with engine off, check continuity on the switch(where the black and purple wire connect)
if you get infinite resistance, replace the switch.

Yes it has memory seats also. Where is the memory seat module located? As I mention, you can press drivers side and the passenger side heat buttons, and they will light up, but as soon as you release the button, the lights go out. Would a bad relay cause this also? I don't believe it would be a fuse because the lights wouldnt come on at all if it was a blown fuse, correct?

The fact that it is experiencing concern with both seats, I would suspect a connection issue at either the driver/passenger seat to body harness connector, or the seat module. There is no relay, nor an independent seat heater module. Both seats share a common power, and a common ground through the memory seat module. The way the system works, is the heated seat switches are wired to the respective door modules, and the door modules send bus messages to the seat module for operation. Open/high resistance elements, could cause this concern. but you would have to have at least one on each seat.
