2003 Chevy Tahoe change engine oil light

My 2003 Tahoe has 78000 miles - i get the oil changed every 3000 miles. The last one was at 76000. The change engine oil light comes on every time I start the car. It turns off after about 30 seconds. Why is that light coming on when I only have 2000 miles on this oil change? By the way, this light has never come on before, even when I forgot to get the oil changed once for over 6000 miles. Thanks!

turn your key to the run position, hit your gas 3 or 5 times. turn the key off. wait 30 seconds and start it. im not sure if its 3 or five but you will have to try it. this will reset the light. those lights are not right. i have a venture that i bought 2 years ago, i put 20,000 miles on it and the light finally came on. it is suppose to go by driving habits, mileage, ect.
