my 2001 Tahoe 4 WD with 100,000 miles started making a noise about a year ago when I start to pull away. the noise seems to be coming from somewhere in front of the glove box. I cant truly describe the noise, I say its gravely my friend says its almost like water sloshing regardless, its becoming much worse. when I take my truck in for the 3000 mile oil change, they due the 20 point check and when I drive away it no longer makes the noise, however that only lasts for a week or 2. could it be a bad U joint? do you think thats there is something simple i can try before i take it in to be serviced?

This sounds like coolant flowing through your heater core, just what you described. A bad u-joint will make a kind of clicking ticking churping pulsing sound. A bad u-joint is usually asociated with a vibration in the drive line.
Check your coolant level and add some if necessary. This sound of water slushing around in your glove box is nothing to worry about as long as you are not loosing or smelling any coolant. If you are, check back we'll go from there..keep me posted
