My wife was driving the Tahoe and had to make a very sharp (full travel of the steering wheel) turn backing out of a parking space. When she tried the return the wheel to the straight position, the power steering was gone. There does not appear to be any kink in the lines or fluid loss but the power steering is not working. The belt is fine, the pulley is turning and there have not been any signals of a failing power steering pump. Any thoughts?

what direction did she have the wheel. I have seen a few steering gears do this and have to be replaced. Usually seen them do it in the left direction.
