I think my igintion is bad.. I have tested it according to the Chiltons book I have. The book gives me what wires should have continuity to the RED power wire in the different switch positions. It appears to test bad. Before I replace it I would like to know if the Chiltons book is correct. They have been know to be wrong.

Your talking about ignition switch? The red wires at the top are feed to the switch. The wires at the bottom of switch are feed coming from the switch, depending on the key position. The info came from MOD, databases are not always correct.
