1998 Chevy Tahoe Adding Auxiliary lighting/fog lights

I love my tahoe, and even though it is 2 wheel drive, it is often subjected to the woods, and other low light situations. The headlights on the truck are terrible. I have buffed out the hazy plastic covers, and put in the Sylvania Silerstar ultra halogen bulbs, but the field of site did not change much. Im researching getting either a set of auxiliary driving lights, or fog lights. My first question is which would be the best option? And Secondly I have heard installing these types of lights is time consuming because you have to find a certain circuit. I would rather do it myself because I enjoy working on my truck, and the quotes I have gotten for installs have been in the $200 range. Is there any advice you can give me on how to do a self installation?
