1997 Chevy Tahoe code P1468 what is this?

P1468 Heated Catalyst Battery Disconnecting Switch Plausibility that is a code found for bmw's and on my reasearch that is what i found also.

are you sure the scanner you bought is compatible with the type of vehicle you have?

Hi there-ok I did the scan again and it was this code-I memorized it wrong...figures... it is P1406-I looked that up.

And it says EGR Valve Pintle Position Circuit so this means the EGR valve is no good?

Sorry for any confusion LOL I did some research and I guess on vehicles produced after 1996 are OBD 2 compliant and that there are a few 1995 that are too depending on how late in the year they were built...mine is 1997 and the attachment thing works so I know it works...the model I bought was Actron CP9125. I guess I can get it to show driving stuff too but I have to keep it plugged in while driving..I will figure that out later...for now just want to focas on fixing the check engine light problem.

And you were right it is about the pintle valve.

usually there is a easy fix, clean out the EGR sometimes it gets clogged open from carbon causing this code to be thrown. also check all the vaccum lines on your EVAP and EGR systems they may be dry rotted and sucking air and not causing proper vaccuum.

if all else fails replace the EGR.

Thanks for the info..ok I havent worked inside this truck much, just replaced wires and plugs and air filter..all major stuff I had the Dobles Chevy place do in manchester, NH siince I dont have a garage and right now its too bloody cold to work on it LOL but if you give me aprox place to look for it and how big it is, I might be able to get someone to help since I like 2 people to work on it incase I screw up placement of wires etc.

So doesnt sound serious-like I said it isnt running any different...same power...have to say heard lots of peeps have issues with this truck this early of a year but I have been lucky...only thing is coolant disapears slowly but no leaks and no leaking carpet...so not sure where it is going-oil is good-no water spots in it etc. Smells good same with tranny fluid..I may be a girl but Im pretty good with basics...just I am too short to get in there and fix things.

When i changed the plugs I had to sit on top of engine to reach the back plugs...it was kind of funny! I usually have Buick sedans...but since I deal in books needed a better equiped vehicle..

EGR valve, ill find a picture for you, it wont be of a tahoe but youll be able to make it out they dont chagne in looks too much. its is about the size of a 8 ounce pop can a little shorter. usually located right next to the throttlebody.

or if you can take a picture of your car's engine near the throttle body in several areas i can edit the pictures and send back to you.
