1987 Chevy Tahoe antilock light on

when I press the brake pedal to stop the vehicle, this will act like its trying to stop but it just slides to one side and it would take tremendous preasure and time to finally stop.

if it slides on one side then the other side has a frozen caliper probably. For the ABS light to be on you have a failure in a sensor or broken wire. You need to hae apro look at it toget the problem with the ABS and fix the brakes....
