I purchased a used 2000 suburban with 100,000 miles on it. Recently it started raining and the front drivers side and rear passenger on the driver side carpet became wet. I checked the weather stripping and it is in good shape, upon further investigation I found the water seems to be coming from the lower door frame area as if the water is trapped in the frame. Has anyone had any experience with this? Would it be ok to drill a small hole from the bottom to see if water does drain out or is there drain holes already there that may be clogged?

Had a similar problem with a Tahoe. Where the vehicle is welded together above the windows was cracked along the weld. Water was coming in and running down into the frame. This was on the rear cargo area, but it might give you something to check.

See GM Bulletin 03-08-57-001 A. It says the horizontal seam on the left rear fender well is not properly sealed or has a hole.Water travels along the sill plate to the front driver carpet as well. It can be repaired with sealer.
I removed my carpet and had my son watch where the water was coming in. Sure enough, it was the left rear fender well. Good luck.
