The vehicle has a dual control unit. The unit on the driver's side of the vehicle will not heat and there is decrease heater output from the back unit of the vehicle. Also, the vehicle's engine compartment smells like antifreeze (no leakage noted on the ground and no wet spots in the vehicle).

Look closely at the water pump, especially underneath it. It sounds like the water pump may be failing or getting ready to. If you smell coolant, then there is a leak somewhere. The coolant may be drying up before it gets to the ground if it is contacting hot engine parts.
