When the engine idles the dome lights flicker. Sometimes it does that while driving if you turn them on but usually not. They pretty much do that all the time when the engine idles. Is it normal or is there a problem with the voltage or something is going bad with the electrical system. The battery gauge (voltmeter) looks fine and does not fluctuate much, at least to me. So i was wondering if there was a solution to this?

One of the most common causes of this is a voltage regulator going bad. It is part of the alternator. You could have it checked at a parts store. Most will do it for free. If that is good, make sure the bulb is tight and the connections are not corroded.

Let me know what you find.

Thanks for your reply. I took it to autozone and they checked it out and said it is putting out 14.86 volts and 71 amps. They said it seems to be fine. So i dont know.
Now i have another probelm.

For the last couple days when i pull the truck out of my drive way in the morning and turn right. it seems like something is grinding in the steering column or steering box. It does not do that when i turn left or turn either way while driving backwards. Only going forward and turning right. It goes away after 5 or 10 mins of driving. Was wondering if it is a safety issue or can be ignored. Does any part need greased or may be the steering joints are dry and are grinding. So kindly please help me on this. thanks
