Hi,

I have a 01 suburban 2500 with 8.1L engine it has 82k miles on it and is new to me as of 79k. I get the brake and ABS light come on sometimes at initial start up, but usually only after it has been driven.

My local mechanic thinks its the ABS brake module going bad, is this a know problem with GM's? And is there another source for the part besides the dealer for over $800?

thanks,

rob

I have a 01 suburban with a similar problem but my lights dont come on until i have been driving for a few miles. My problem wasnt the module but the sensors in the wheel hub assembly for the abs system. If the module is going bad it can be rebuilt by module masters in moscow idaho. If you read their website they give you information to determine if the problem is the module and step by step instructions on how to remove it and send it to them for repair. Using their info i was able to determine my module wasn't in bad shape so i didn't need the repair but its a great resource for info if your having this problem.
