check engine light came on had the message read staates catalytic converter defective possibly due to engine misfire or running condition, large vacuum leak, or engine oil leakage into exhaust -value guide seals, piston rings....in the morning when i turn truck on first thing it makes a ticking sound once i begin driving ticking sound disappears i i stio within the first 10-15 miles after i drive off the oil pressure drops and a warning light comes on to check pil pressure. once truck is warmed up it no longer does this. i have no clue what is going on. truck runs great. does anyone have any ideas or has anyone experienced this if so help please!!

It sounds like the oil pressure spring inside of the oil pump is either broke or failing. The only wat to tell is to remove the oil pump and check--so if you do this -- replacing the oil pump is the best option. Your engine has hydrolic lifters, when they get older they tend to "make a ticking sound". If it goes away it is nothing to worry about. What I would worry about is the oil pressure issue. If the damage is already done to the piston rings or bearings from low oil pressure, then engine failure is in the future..To check the condition of the piston rings, valve seals etc etc..do a compression test and a leak down test on all cylinders..
