1998 Chevy Suburban dont know whats wrong

i have a 1998 chevy suburban and it will turn over but it want crank. what do you think is the problem. a friend of mine said it could be the ignition module. is this true

give it a shot of starting fluid on the air intake somewhere (tube pulls out easy - goes to PCV on R valve cover - then stick tube back before cranking) to see if it's a fuel prob., others causes are ignition sys. or compression probs...
