1997 Chevy Suburban Fuel Guage

My Suburban has been sitting for a year and a half. When we turn it on, the fuel guage is all the way to the right past full, exactly horizontal. I haven't started it yet as we are changing the oil, and wanted to know how much gas was in it to see if we should drain it out or siphon it out or just add some octane booster.

the fuel pump has probably frozen up over the months, along with the fuel pump sending unit. try banging on the fuel tank with a rubber mallet while starting engine, if it doesn't help than the sending unit is probably shot.
