Noises problem
1997 Chevy Suburban 61000 miles

ok so we have changed the tensioner pully, and a belt, and it is still making noises. It seems to stop making the noise when i brake. we did just buy the used car, and it was not making these noises when we bought it, it took a few days. Our mechanic friend who has been working on it says that they put gunk on the brakes when they clean it (and they had the engine shining with armoral), and this could this be why it is making noises? What is your opinion, and if you think it may be the brake gunk, how long should we expect that to last? Thank you so much!

The first thing I would do is check the front brakes, the wear indicators may be contacting the rotors causing the squeak.
