1993 Chevy Suburban Brake Piston

I just completed a front disc brake pad replacement on my burb. Very easy and straightforward. Followed my Haynes to the letter.

Now when I depress the brake pedal the brakes enguage, but don't completely disienguage when I release. The wheels still turn but the pads are rubbing the rotor. I can push the brake piston open and create the space, but they aren't doing it automatically.

I drained some fluid from the master cylinder to compensate for the new pads, but the piston still will not open enough.

You might have some blockage in your brake lines, which is not allowing fluid to return to the master cylinder appropriatly. It might be beneficial to completely flush your brake system if you havent done so with compressed air and then fill and bleed accordingly.

NEVER put air into a brake system!!! If you want to flush out the brake lines and or system ALWAYS flush them out with fresh brake fluid by bleeding FRESH brake fluid into the lines.

Try sucking out most of the brake fluid from the master cylinder -- not all -- and fill the master cylinder with FRESH brake fluid and bleed the front brakes until the FRESH fluid comes out. If this does not solve the problem then either rebuild the the calipers or just replace with new calipers.

NEVER blow out a brake system with compressed air because compressed air has water vapor in it !! Air and brakes do not mix.

Wtf is your problem....Yes you can blow them out with compressed air, thats why you use a moisture filter so you don't destroy your tank. You use compressed air and then you can use methanol or any dehydrating fluid in the brake lines or even run a vacuum if you want. You can flush it with clean brake fluid, a complete waste, since you will need to take off the bleed fittings to make sure nothing is in there.
