I have the steering wheel off and the signal switch removed. How do I tighten the tilt column?

there are 4 inverted torx head screws that have to be tightened deep inside column. you will probably only be able to get to 3 of them without totally disassembling the column. tighten 3 of them and the play will be gone.

you have to go a little deeper. you need to depress the lock plate and remove the c clip to remove it. then you can access the inverted torx screws. you might be able to rent or get on loan from your auto parts store, its called a lock plate depresser, it makes getting the c clip out a lot easier.

i use long extension with the inverted torx bit and snake it right through, you can only get to 3 of them. if your bit is too wide try taking it to the grinder to make it thinner.
