I'm about to buy a 2005 chevy silverado z71. The guy I'm buying it from says that the chevy dealership told him that because the tires on the back are worn down and the front ones are new that its causing the trucks 4 wheel drive to disengage. I'm not an expert but this doesn't sound right to me. He took the truck into the shop because it wouldn't go into 4 wheel drive and they found out there was a blown fuse so, they replaced it. It now goes into 4 wheel drive but is shaky and disengages thats when they blamed the tires. Thanks for your help in advance! I have added a picture of some kind of fluid leak underneath the truck

Not being to tell what color fluid is in your picture, I'd say it's either front lip seal on the transmission or rear main seal on the engine.
On the tire question. Not saying this is the problem, but the dealer is correct. Different diameter tires on the front verses the rear can make the transfer case bind up and jump out of gear. You can test this theory by interchanging two of the tires front to rear on one side of the truck. If the jumping stops, you found your problem. Hope this helps.
