About a month ago while driving on the freeway the engine light came on, and engine started to act funny. If i tried to give it gas to quickly it wouldn't respond, but if i did it slowly ti did ok. Eventually after about two days of driving it carefully the engine started to run better, and the engine light went off. Since then i have had the engine light come on several times and get progressivly worse, and have noticed it that the light tends to come on if i hot rod it a little, then same thing happens a couple days later of taking it easy the light goes off. I did have a chip on it and thought that was causing it so i unhooked it, and about three days later i was driving normall and the light came on then the truck had no throttle response and sounds like its knocking realy hard it only idles and if you give it gas it has no response. I got a tester and it came up with three codes:
1: Fuel pump relay circuit malfunction injectors
2,3,5,8.
2: Fuel rail pressure range/perfromance
3: fuel injector 2 control circuit malfunction
I replaced the fuel pump relay under the hood fuse block and the engine still runs poorly. while the motor is running and i pull off the electrical connector on cylinders 2, 3, 5, and 8 one at a time nothing happens
if i pull off cylinder 1, 4, 6, or 7 one at a time the motor dies the second i pull it off. (not sure what this meens but tried it anyways). I don't think it's the injectors and the rely is fine any suggestions would be appreciated

Welcome to the forum, Voltage to injector is pink wire, goes hot when you turn on the key. The other wire whatever the color is ground. You can use a noid lite on injector plug, engine cranking, the lite should pulse.

Did you use a testlite on the pink wire to check for voltage. Ground the testlite to the engine block. If no voltage, there is an injector fuse for each bank.

I finally fixed the problem apparently 0n the 05 duramax it is a common problem for the injector harnesses to go bad on cylinders 2 and 7. The dealer sells a kit with new harnesses and some heat shrink butt splices for $250 it took me 30 min to change out harnesses, and the truck runs perfect. Thanks.

Remove the lower valve coverRemove the fuel injector return line from fuel injectors.
Remove the bolt from the fuel injector bracket.
Remove the fuel injector(s).
Remove the copper compression washer from the injector hole if the washer was not removed with the injector, you also need a special tool to remove the injector(s).it may sound easy but there not.without the special tool to remove the inj you will break the inj.doing these injectors are NO FUN!alot of work remving the lower v/c.

I have a 2002 Chevy silverado 1500 HD 6.0L. The injectors are not pulsing when the engine is turned over, but they do have power when the key is turned on.

One possibility is your security system?

Engine cranking, do you have spark at the plugs? Even with coil-on-plugs, you can still check for spark.

I haven't thought about the security system, I do have spark at all plugs, i was thinking crank sensor, cam position sensor, or pcm. I replaced the pcm (I did have it flashed / programmed to my VIN number) The crank sensor ohmed good, but I can't find the cam sensor. How would i check the security system?

When you try to start, is the security lite on? If so, leave the key in the on position, it will return to on from crank. Watch the security lite, it should go off in about 10 minutes. If the lite does go out, turn the key to off for 5 seconds, then try to start.

At the moment, I don't think your cam sensor is the problem? It should be located at rear center of engine. The wire colors at the connector are in the diagram.

The fuel injectors on my 2002 chevy silverado HD only pulse once when i turn the engine over, no matter how long it turns over. Any idea what could cause this?

Have you determined if it's the ground pulse dropping out or the power supply?

Hey, I apologize, my internet has been down, but I have been doing some more testing and realized that my spark plugs are doing the same thing, pulsing once, and then quitting, no matter how long i turn the engine over

Sounds like possible bad Crankshaft Position sensor but that should be confirmed independently.

Yes, but you need a portable lab scope to observe the wave patterns.

these suck to do,you have to remove both valve covers and the fuel rails.the injectors are down in the head, you need a special tool to remove the injectors or you cant remove them. and you have to clean the injector bore and each fuel line, they get deposits of rust that has to be cleaned.this is the tool you will need,

I fill my tank every 2 weeks. My question is: am I harming my engine by adding a bottle of Heet with each fill up? Will repeated use of this product harm my engine? I had been having injector problems, I put injector cleaner in, and used a bottle of Heet. I just want to be sure my injectors are clean. :?

The pour in additives are only somewhat effective. If you add it only do it every 4 tank fulls or so. It will affect it in the long run.

Are the injector problems still present? Why injectors?

I was getting a spark knock noise. And ask what I could do to get rid of it. And I was told to clean the injectors. At first I thought it was a knock sensor an had a friend scan it. And they didn't show up. Plus is what the dealership told me. :?

When driving the truck it would suddenly lose power and stop, like I was running out of gas. After it sat for awhile I can dirve it again. I replaced all 4 O2 sensors and the fuel filter.

I was told I could try adding BG44K to the gas tank and this would clean the fuel injectors. A mechanic said he uses transmission fluid instead and it works just as well.

When the problem occurs, have a helper crank it, while you visually check for spark at the plugs. If that check out, use a gage and check fuel pressure. Some of the national brand autostores used to loan out a fuel pressure gage, if you don't have one. Don't let gas spray all over a hot engine. Safety is your responsibility.

To check for spark, you can use a known good spark plug or spark tester, carry it in the glove box, it won't get hot. If the engine is hot, wear gloves and/or use a spark plug wire puller. Pull the plug wire, stick tester in the boot, ground metal part of plug/tester to metal part of engine. Engine cranking, watch for spark. Let us know what you find.

Pull the vacuum hose off the fuel pressure regulator and check if it's wet inside. If it is, the regulator is leaking fuel into the intake manifold and needs to be replaced.

One problem the fuel pressure regulator is attached to the spider injector unit under the upper intake manifold and when it was replaced there was no hose connected to it!

Fuel injectors? It should have eight of them. Since you can't see them, it is probably a central fuel injection system. The are actually poppet style injectors, housed inside of the intake manifold.

You need to remove the upper intake, why would you want to replace all of them? If you have cold start running problems, try having them cleaned. The poppet nozzles are known to stick.

I just replaced the fuel pump on my truck and not it doesnt want to fire. I am getting fuel to the top of the upper intake manifold, but it doesnt seem to be going thru the injectors. Is there a reset or a code? Someone told me there is a sequence I can do with the key in the ignition.
