2005 Chevy Silverado Excessive rear tire wear

Replaced all four tires with Yokahamas, rated D, 9,000miles ago. Front tires are like new, rear tires are all worn out. My sons truck is used for remodeling work. He pulls a 6x12 enclosed trailer 85% of the time. The tires were installed at a Chevy dealer. The tires are wearing unevenly, like a bad alignment. The trailer weighs about 3500 lbs, the tires have been on the trailer for 3 years and are fine. He has the Duramax engine, 3/4 ton, four dr., 8 ft. bed. The truck has not been in any accidents or any off road use.

It's the trailer that's causing the tire wear. The extra load and constant pushing and pulling on the back of the truck will lead to excessive wear. He might have better luck with a duellie.

Thank you for responding to my question about my sons tire wear. He has 3/4 ton Chevy pickup and hauls a 3500 lb. trailer for his business. With 9,000 miles the two rear tires were very worn out, the front were fine. He took the truck back to the Chevy dealer were he bought the tires. They discovered they had put the wrong rated tires for this this truck. If I am correct they put a B rated tire instead of a D or E. I hope this information may help you in future repair questions.

Yes, without the trailer that would not have mattered but becomes much more necessary with the trailer weight.
