Did the wipers run when you had the fuse out?

Yes. So then I disconnected the battery for a couple of hours. then reconnected the battery and they still stay on. I look and feel stupid driving down the road on a sunny day with them on. I cant afford to take it in. Someone said its probably in the computer. Is that a possability?

I understand. I would feel stupid too, but it's not your fault. Plus, living near Pitttsburgh, I would give anything to see a sunny day, even drive with my wipers on. We have a 52" swiming pool and the snow it to the rim. I hate it!

AS far as your problem, I really don't think it is a computer issue and this is why. If you removed the fuse for the wipers and they still worked, the BCM (computer) is before the fuse so it should have shut it off. IF they run when you pull the fuse, I would have to say either the switch is bad or there is a dead short between the power supply to the wiper motor and another power supply which is unlikely.

Thanks for answering so quickly. sounds cold there. Placerville ca. we did get snowed in for a week. Our drive way is very steep. We dont usally get snow. So i dont have 4 wheel drive. Anywho please tell me. How do I check the swits. Is there a tool I need to use? Please do tell what you would do to correct this situation. Thank you Jacob.

It is really a pain. You need to remove the switch and check for continunity. Basicaly, you are supplying power into the switch and checking if it comes back out even with the switch in the off position. Most basic ohm meters have a continunity selection. You may want to remove it and have it checked. I don't think anyone would charge more than a few bucks to do it. However, I don't know what the prices are like there.

PS: I too have a steep driveway (700 feet), and with 4wd I almost flipped my truck on Friday. Life is great.

This morning when I got in the truck and started it the wipers where off. Totally weird. maybe its possesed. Do you think maybe the motor got hot. I love it. I have an older Dakota that seems to go anywhere. Of course the right tires help. However, I almost rolled it this weekend. I use it to plow my driveway and it was ice. I made it about 75% of the way up, and started down backwards at about 15MPH. let off the brakes, turned the right rear into a snow bank from plowing, it caught, the front end came swinging around and the plow caught the other side of the driveway where there is another snow bank and stopped me within a second sideways on a steep hill (my 700 foot driveway). Not sure, but I think the passanger side tires came off the ground. Scare the %^$# out of me.

If you have any pictures, I would love to see them. Then I can sit and be depressed because I hate living here, but this is where I lived all my life and...

It is interesting about the wipers. Let me know if they act up again.

Take your time. No rush. I just have never been there and love to see pictures. I'm a school teacher during the week and mechanic on the weekends. I always said that one summer, I'm going to take 4 or 5 weeks and travel cross country to CA. I always wanted to see some the Ghost Towns on the way. I think it is interesting.

It is nice here. Ive lived here all my life. Placerville is perfect. We live in the foot hills. Just ubove Sacramento, and Tahoe is just an hour up the highway. I sent some pictures to your email. Like I said we have dial up where I live and its very slow. Send some pictures Ive never been there.
