In the last several days, the transfer case has developed a leak either at the seal between the two halves or around one of the bolts that hols the halves together. Two questions: is there a way to fix this by adding a liquid sealant to the transfer case, and second, about how much should this repair be at the Chevy dealer?

As far as a price, it is hard for me to tell because I don't know where the leak is coming from. It shouldn't take much more than 3 hours labor to remove replace a gasket and replace. As far as the parts, gaskets are cheap.

If you wipe everything off, can you tell where the leak is coming from?

best I can tell its either leaking through the seal or from one of the bolt holes...its not coming from a hole in the case itself, I'm sure of that...

Chances are a new gasket will fix it. As far as the additives, if they work, it is only a temporary fix.
