Engine Squealing Noise?

Hello,
My truck has started making a squeeling noise, Also its been very cold here latley, and the sound comes from the engine area, It does quit after about a 20 run time or it warms up. Its does'nt seem to affect anything other than very embarssing. Thank you for your time, Iam traveling to Memphis this Thursday and just want to make sure its not something serious, So time is some what important on a idea?

It sounds like the serp belt. Check its condition. Make sure it isn't cracked and is tight. Chances are the belt is slipping on cold starts because first the battery is lower due to cold weather and the fact that the starter just took more power from it. As a result, the alt works harder and the belt slips. When it is making the noise, try this little trick. Start the engine, open the hood, and pour a little water on the belt. See if the sound changes. Keep in mind, the belt may fling the water at you so protect your eyes and wear old clothes.
