Check the fuel pressure to find out if it is a lack of pressure , must be in spec.

Also, is there any smell of raw fuel from under the hood?

These have had a problem with a leaking fuel pressure regulator and bad connector at the fuel pump.


As far as the codes, check the fuse for the DLC.

Hi, i can't find the DLC fuse. There is no fuse labeled with DLC. There is no smell of gas coming from under the hood. I replaced the fuel pressure regulator (not much help but some) I still need to find someone to check the fuel pump pressure. Thanks George

I apologize, I should have been clearer. The DLC (Data Link Connector) is on the fuse labeled CIGAR.
The CIGAR fuse supplies power to the DLC terminal 16.

Hi, I got the code reader fixed it was the fuse. Thanks. I had the codes checked at a local parts store. They are PO131, PO151, PO171, PO174, P1133 & P1153. Can you tell me what the problem is. Thanks George

p0131, p0151,p1133 and p1153 are all O2 sensor lean and not switching Time for new O2 sensors and usually the ECT (engine coolant temp) sensor as well...171 and 174 are lean codes, should clear up with new O2 sensors.

Hi, With ones do I replace? The ones before or after the catalytic converters. if I right there are 4 total. Thanks George

Both sets of codes are for upstream sensore, b4 the cat, but if you have over 100,000 miles do em all.

Hi, Well I replaced all four of the o2 sensors the two in front of the converter and the two after the converter, the fuel pressure regulator and cleaned the mass air flow sensor. And it is sill doing the same thing. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks George PS water temp sensore I have not replaced.

You may have a vacuum leak, get a can of spray gumout, spray the vac lines and maniflod area, when the idle changes, youve found the leak! You want the engine running and spray on the outside but do direct the stream onto the hoses, if it is a vacuum leak, the engine idle will change speed, then you have detected a leak, repair the vacuum leak and see how it runs! Any modifications? like different air filter?

After all the work and money it was the fuel pump. Thanks George

I'm surprized the fuel pressure was in spec with a bad pump. You did replace the connector as mentioned in the beginning I hope, or that pump may go south.
