2000 Chevy Z71 trans filter change

I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado Z71, 5.4L engine with an automatic transmission.
I amtrying to change the trans oil and filter. I am unable to get the pan off. The exhaust pipe seams to be in the way. Do I have to drop the exhaust to get the pan off?

If you unblot the flanges at the manifolds it will fall down enough to get the pan off
