2000 Chevy Silverado Steering knock and brake question

Hello,

I recently inquired about a hot start problem and your advice was right on, it was indeed the fuel pressure regulator. Thank you.

I have two other things happening... First, I have a light knocking happening in my steering (can feel it in steering wheel) whenver I turn the wheels (usually at lower speeds) and apply the brakes. Any ideas as to what that could be?

Second, my brakes are acting funny... If I stop quickly or apply a good deal of pressure to the brakes, the anti lock kicks in (keep in mind, this is on completely dry pavement). Is that normal? Is there a way I can get it to stop doing that?

Your truck could have a hydraboost unit for power assist, this means it works off the poer steering instead of the engie vacuum. Check the column for looseness does the wheel move slightly up and down or sisde to side? As for the ABS, usually this happens when the tires are old and loosing traction.

The knocking noise would be a lack of grease in the steering intermediate shaft. You can purchase a lube kit or a new shaft at your local dealership.
