Steering problem
1996 Chevy Silverado V8 Four Wheel Drive Manual

for the past three years i have had to replace my ball joints at LEAST once a year because of them wearing out to the point that it squeaks and the wheel "shakes". I keep them well greased and have never ran them dry of grease. Is there something else thats causing my ball joints to go bad? I am using a mid-grade ball joint at replacement.

Do you have oversized tires on the vehicle? What brand ball joints are you getting? Do you drive off road?

I still have the standard 265/75R16 tires, I think the brand is Autopart from Advance auto parts. And my off road is limited to driving on a gravel road maybe like once every couple months

That shouldn't cause any problems. My recommendation is to upgrade the ball joint. Get a good brand name (I'm not allowed to recommend any brands but you can tell me what you are getting). Chances are you are getting an imported part that isn't made very well.

Let me know what you think.

Yes, Moog is a very good brand and has been around for years. That is what I use on my own vehicles.

Let me know if it helps.
