Brakes problem
1995 Chevy Silverado V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

when i got in my truck, i noticed my brakes felt very tight when pulling out of a parking lot. when i went to stop a moment later, it took some muscle to push down the pedal. when pushed as far as i could, which wasnt much, you could hear a sound like it was blowing out air around the pedal. fully pressed it would barely stop. the brake fluid resovior is full and noticed no leaks. someone said there might be air in the brake lines, said a good place to start would be bleeding the brakes. do you agree, and how exactly would i do that. thank you

Hello,

If you pedal is hard then it is possible your Brake Booster has gone out. If you had air in the lines you pedal would be spongy not hard.

To test booster...

With engine off press brake pedal normally, several times. This must be done with engine off to remove vacuum from booster.

While depressing brake pedal start engine, this creates vacuum to operate booster. This causes the brake pedal to go down.

If brake pedal goes down slightly booster is operating normally. If brake pedal does not move, the booster is not receiving manifold vacuum or is malfunctioning.
