1994 Chevy Silverado Oil Cooler Lines

Can anyone provide instructions on how to properly replace the oil cooler lines on a 1994 K1500. I am interested in finding out how to install the fitting with the plastic clip. Does the clip go on the line first or in the fitting first?

i always put the plastic clip on the nipple of the cooler and then pop the hose on it untill the ears click in place give it a pull and see if its on
