1984 Chevy Silverado No fire to Sparkplugs from Distributor

Do you have fire to the distributor itself ?

Yes

Check to be sure you have it when you're cranking as well as ignition on

We've done that check also. Have fire to the distributor cap, but still no fire to the plugs once the cap is reinstalled.

You lost plug fire when you changed cap & rotor,go back over that, re-install your old parts,they worked. Pay close attention to coil terminals in cap, they're easy to miss

Have you checked the button underneath the coil really close?

Yes, I learned the hard way on that, I ended up buying a second coil because I didn't install the first correctly

Correction, I had to purchase another cap not another coil

Check your coil w/an ohmmeter, be sure its not open. You may have to pull the dist. out, use jumpers for power & ground, and play w/it til it works.

i'M STARTING FROM SCRATCH AGAIN, I'M TAKING EVERYTHING APART TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS INSTALLED CORRECTLY.

I'm at a loss, unless you have a module problem. Keep me posted on what you find out, I want to know.

The solution to my problem was resolved by disconnecting the four prong plug from the ecm module, which had evidently shorted out, causing no fire to be transferred to the spark plugs and installing a distributor without this connector. We used a another distributor ranging in years fron 1978 to the 80's. It beat having to buy an ECM module which was more han I was willing to pay. So far , so good, running like a champ.

Has the problem been resolved?
