Unannounced bearing failure

Yesterday I had the intake manifold gaskets replaced on my 1999 S-10 4x4 V-6. Never had any bearing noise. Has 150K mi. No moisture in oil, no noises.
Got it back from Chevy dealer and drove it 40 mi before it broke. Engine revs went up, speed went down. Now has a bad bearing knock.
QUESTION? Can you install gaskets wrong, backwards or otherwise to restrict or block oil flow or coolant flow. The dealer changed oil and filter and flushed coolant as well. $509.00 in all. Dealer says they did nothing wrong. They want to examine it privately to double check. Should I have an independent check it out?

Why did you replace the intake gasket to begin with?


If there was a situation where oil and coolant had mixed, the damage may have been done before they changed it out.

Thanks for reply. Reason was external coolant leak at front of manifold. No previous oil coolant mix. None now either. Could any oil passages have been blocked by gasket debris ?
Anyone know avg price of used motor at 75K miles ?

Anything is possible, tear-down may or may not show cause. Hopefully it is a stand up dealership if they screwed up. At 150k, Perhaps the increased vacuum helped push it over the edge? Not sure about it.
