2002 Chevy S-10 Fuel Gage Not Working

Hi:
The low fuel gage is lit up. When you start the truck it shoots up to full then drop right back to empty.

Can you tell us what would cause this and how can it be fixed? We were told there is something the dealers have they can pour in that will clean the sensors is this ture?

No, that's not true.
They have a lot of problems with the sending units in the tank because of the additives in the fuel.

You can disconnect the plug at the tank and ground the purple wire. No turn the key on for a few seconds and the gauge should spike to full and stay there. If it does, the sender is bad.
