My fuel gauge will always read half a tank even though I had just filled it up then will go to empty after driving it after a little bit.

It sounds like you may have a bad fuel level sensor. First, check your wires to the gauge to ensure they are not loose and that they are getting power. If it is not the wires, I suggest replacing the fuel level sensor. Instructions for your vehicle are as follows. REMOVAL: Disconnect the negative battery cable. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure. Drain the fuel tank. Remove the fuel tank. Remove the fuel sender assembly. Disconnect the fuel pump electrical connector. Remove the fuel level sensor electrical connector retaining clip, if equipped. Disconnect the fuel level sensor electrical connector from under the fuel sender cover. Remove the fuel level sensor retaining clip, if equipped. Squeeze the locking tangs and remove the fuel level sensor.

Fuel level sensor (3), sensor retaining clip (4), fuel pump electrical connector (5), fuel level sensor connector retaining clip (6) and connector (7) INSTALLATION: Install the fuel level sensor. Install the fuel level sensor retaining clip. Connect the fuel level sensor electrical connector. Connect the fuel level sensor electrical connector retaining clip. Connect the fuel pump electrical connector. Install the fuel sender assembly. Install the fuel tank. Refill the fuel tank and install the fuel filler cap. Connect the negative battery cable.
