It sounds like the wiring can be the issue this guide can help confirm the problem so we can fix it.

Please run down this guide and report back.

you probably STILL have damaged wires either inside or in engine compartment. check to see if any fuses blown under hood

then check that wire or wires going to the gauges there will be one for each instrumentyou more than likely have wires melted together inside harness under conduit and tape. if you are lucky you didn't burn up the ecm or another module. see if you can scan for codes that may tell you what problem is if you can get a reading.

Will do.dealership mechanic told me as a rule a fire where wires melted to frame they total it.the fact it ran for 3-4 minutes really means nothing.so its back under it for me. Think I'll sell it for what I can get.

One cylinder has no spark at all one has .. . . speratic spark, two are just fine. I've replaced all plugs & wires, both ignition coils and the control modul. The only other wires i see go to sensors how can i test which one is the bad one, or is there really another "brain" somewhere (every one tells me there is no other "brain")?

Welcome, which control module did you replace? Ignition control module? The two cylinders your having trouble with, both plug wires come off the same coil? With your system, one coil fires two plugs at the same time.

The two plugs wires for the cylinders where you have problems, are they on the same coil?? The computer controls one coil on the white wire. It controls the other coil on the orange wire. Can you check for trouble codes? Right now, I can't tell where your problem is located?

One ignition coil was bad, before replacing with a new coil I switced to see if the other plugs would spark and they did,so instead of cylinders 2&4 not fireing now 1&3 so we replaced both ig coils & controle moduls but the problem still exists. How do I get the code number?

With obd11, you need at least an obd11 code reader. Your firing order is 1342, 1 & 4 on the same coil, 3 and 2 on the same coil. Something isn't right? If 1 and 3 are misfiring because of spark, they are on different coils. Maybe I misunderstood?

Lets get the fuel to reach the injectors. Below you will find the fuel pump relay. Get help by having someone to cycle the key to On a few times to listen whether the relay is clicking-is it? Fuel pump relay location below at no.3 left top corner square box.

Electrical problem
1996 Chevy S-10 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

My S-10 Blazer will crank over but will not start. I have checked voltage to the coil and the distibuter. I put a new coil and ignition module in and still no change. The out put of the coil is 12 volts with the key on but when crancked it drops to 8 volts instead of pegging out the volt meter. I am stumped

We have no spark. Up to now we replaced the control mudale with a new one and the computer with a used one. On replacing these parts it started and ran for a minute or so then stopped with no spark again. What do you suggest to look for as the cause? Thank you. Fr Spinler.

Do this power the pink wire on the coil from the battery positive post and attempt to start-if it starts either the pink wire is open or the ignition switch is bad

My '93 S-10 cranks/turns over, but won't start. Sometimes it starts fine but lately I've had this problem. Tried STP fuel line cleaner and a fresh tank of gas, also tried pouring a little fuel down through the top of the air filter, still nothing.

What should I investigate?

Welcome to the forum. Did you visually check for spark at the plugs, engine cranking? If you have spark everywhere, use a gage and check fuel pressure.

Does the rotor turn when you crank the engine? Is the coil in the cap or separate? Primary voltage to coil, pink wire, goes hot when you turn on the key. White wire should have a tach signal, engine cranking. A couple other possibilities, pick-up coil and ignition module? Can't be sure at this point?

Check primary voltage to the coil. The battery has a full charge and the connections are good? Use a digital multimeter leads across the battery posts, everything turned off. The generic spec or a fully charge battery is around 12.6 volts. If the battery has a full charge, the alternator should be ok. The ignition module and pick-up coil are inside the dist.. Right now, I'm not sure of the problem. I wouldn't replace anything without being trying to be sure of the problem.

Use a testlite on negative side of coil, engine cranking, the lite should pulse.

Truck drove to work, but will not start, it cranks and there is the smell of gas, yet there is no spark at the plugs, or at the top of the coil, replaced coil, recharged battrie and truned it over and over and it just will not start. It just died.
